Every year 10 million tonnes of wood is produced for disposal in the UK, and yet still only 22% is recycled. The rest is sent to landfill.

The UK is moving towards a more sustainable society which increases the need to recycle and re-use more, and landfill less.

Land filling organic materials such as wood leads to emissions of methane. This is 21 times more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide. Recycling wood offers a real opportunity to reduce landfills, reduce emissions to the atmosphere and to improve the economic vitality of our country.

With increasing landfill charges, landfill taxes, recycling targets, penalties, and the ever-increasing cost of transport, wood recycling now offers a sound financial investment.
